IACOP-TO' 24: Terahertz Optics

The emission, reflection and transmission spectra of matter in the THz wave band contain a wealth of physical and chemical information, and THz wave radiation exhibits low energy and high penetrability characteristics. Consequently, it offers significant scientific research value and extensive potential for application across a range of fields, including fundamental research in physics, chemistry, astronomy and life sciences, as well as applied research in security inspection, medical imaging, food inspection and satellite communication. In this context, IACOP-TO' 24 aims to provide a platform for researchers worldwide to exchange and collaborate on the latest research results, technology trends and application prospects in the field of Terahertz Optics.

Li Li
School of Physics, Harbin Institute of Technology, China

Biography: Li Li received the B.S. degree in applied physics and the Ph.D. degree in optics from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2003 and 2009, respectively. He is currently a Full Professor at the School of Physics, Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His research interests include infrared ultrafast lasers, terahertz optics, and meta-structured devices.

Xuecou Tu
School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Nanjing University, China

Biography: Xue-Cou Tu received the Ph.D. degree in radio physics from Nanjing University (NJU), Nanjing, China, in 2014. Since 2018, he has been a Senior Researcher with NJU. His research interests include nano-fabrication techniques, microbolometer terahertz detector, and their applications.

Xiaofei Zang
School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, China

Biography: Prof. Xiaofei ZANG, graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a Ph.D. degree, is a Professor in the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). His current research interested includes Terahertz functional devices, Terahertz super-resolution imaging and Topological photonics etc. Up to now, he has published more than 60 papers, including >20 papers in Adv. Mater., Light Sci. & Appl., Laser. Photon. Rev., Adv. Opt. Mater., Appl. Phys. Lett., Opt. Lett., Opt. Exp., et al. He has been responsible for more than 10 projects at the national and ministerial/provincial levels, which include one project supported by the National 973 Project, two projects by National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. He was selected as of Shanghai “Shuguang” Scholar, “Pujiang” Scholar, and “Shanghai young leading talent”.

Xuecou Tu

Biography: Xue-Cou Tu received the Ph.D. degree in radio physics from Nanjing University (NJU), Nanjing, China, in 2014. Since 2018, he has been a Senior Researcher with NJU. His research interests include nano-fabrication techniques, microbolometer terahertz detector, and their applications.

Xiaoyong He
Department of Physics, Shanghai Normal University, China

Biography: Xiaoyong He received the B.E. and M.S. degrees in material science and engineering from Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, China, in 2001 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in solid-state and microelectronics from the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China, in 2007. He is currently a Professor with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China. He has authored more than 30 first/corresponding author journal papers, including 12 ESI highly cited articles. His research interests include terahertz technology, tunable, dirac semimetal devices, metamaterials, and surface plasmons optics.

Jinhui Shi

Biography: Jinhui Shi is a Professor and Vice dean in College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Harbin Engineering University. His research interests include Metamaterials, metasurface and fiber devices.

Biography: Fengjun Tian is a Professor in College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Harbin Engineering University. His research interests include Micro-structure functional fibers and THz waveguides.

Ruoxing Wang

Biography: Ruoxing Wang is an Associate Professor of North China Electric Power University, China. His main research interests include micro/nano-photonics, metamaterials/supersurfaces.

Zhiyu Tan
University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, China

Biography: Zhiyu Tan received his M. S. degree in optoelectronic information science and engineering, and Ph. D. degree in optical engineering, from Nankai University in 2018 and in 2024, respectively. Since 2024, he has been with the Terahertz Technology Innovation Research Institute, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. His current research involves terahertz science and technology, metasurface, magneto-optics and the applications of artificial neural network networks. He has been published several papers as the first author in the journals such as Laser & Photonics Reviews, Advanced Science and Advanced Optical Materials.

Yajing Peng

Biography: Yajing Peng is an Associate Professor of Bohai University, China. She is mainly engaged in the research on reaction mechanisms of energy-containing materials, laser physics, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, and excited state proton transfer reactions.

Guilin University of Electronic Technology, China

Biography: Huan Liu is an Associate Professor of Guilin University of Electronic Technology, China. Dr. Liu has been working on the basic theory, key technology and application research of terahertz spectroscopy and its novel functional devices.

Shengxuan Xia

Biography: Sheng-Xuan Xia is an Associate Professor of School of Physics and Electronics, Hunan University, China. His current research interests include micro- and nanostructured photonics and information devices.

Biography: Wei Huang is Associate Professor of School of Physics, South China Normal University, China. His current research interests include terahertz detection and imaging.

Biography: Yachen Gao is a a professor, doctoral supervisor of School of Electronic Engineering, Heilongjiang University, China. His research interests are nonlinear optics and surface plasmon resonance sensor.

Depeng Kong

Biography: Depeng Kong is a professor, doctoral supervisor of Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS, China. His research interests include Terahertz wired transmission technology, specialty polymer fibers, fiber optic imaging technology.

Yuancheng Fan
School of Physical Science and Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China

Biography: Yuancheng Fan is currently a Professor of Physics in School of Physical Science and Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). During the Ph.D. study, he took 16 months at Ames Lab of U.S. Department of Energy as a visiting scholar (with Prof. Costas M. Soukoulis). After achieved his Ph.D. degree at Physics Department of Tongji University in 2014, he joined Department of Applied Physics, School of Science, NPU, Xi’an. He had published 50 more research papers. His research focused on micro-structured metamaterials (nonlinear enhancement, electromagnetic logic response, toroidal moment), terahertz metasurfaces, acoustic metamaterials, photonic band gaps and graphene plasmonics.

Guidong Liu

Biography: Guidong Liu received a Ph.D. degree from Hunan University, China. She is currently a lecturer at the School of Physics and Optoelectronics, Xiangtan University. Her research interests include micro-nano photonics, nonlinear optics, metamaterials, and surface plasmon.

Chong Sheng

Biography: Chong Sheng is an Associate Professor of School of Physics, Nanjing University, China. His main research interests include Micro-Nano Optics, Nonlinear Optics, and Quantum Optics.
